India was lucky to have Abdul Kalam as President of India. This is so because Abdul Kalam is very successful and renowned engineer and space research scientist. 

Abdul Kalam was born in 1931 in Rameshwaram. His father was a simple but resolute person. Hence Abdul Kalam has received religious and ethical training home. He is also influenced by Subrahmanyam Iyer. He complected his schooling at Ramnathpuram and then he went to Trichi and studied at St. Joseph Collage. He was found of English Literature, philosophy and physics. Then he went to IIT where he specialized in Aerodynamics. In the year 1962 the famous ISRO was founded in Kerala at Thumba. Abdul Kalam went to USA for student of NASA then he camera back and joined ISRO as a Scientist engaged in Rocket Research. He developers Rohini rocket and also SAM. [Surface to air missile] Then he made research for SLV3.

From 1968 to 1998 he continued to work in various central government departments to develop Prithwi, Trishul, Nag, Akash etc...

In year 1998 he bacame defence adviser and then made "Pokharan" success. His name was known to everyone after this. From 1999ro 2001 he was an adviser to defence department.

After this success as a scientist, the crowning glory came when he became President of India in 2002. He was a very successful and popular president. He was vastly respected when the went on tour to foreign countries.
