Ambulance first began to appear on the Napoleonic battlefields of France in 1992. Their invertor, surgeon Dominique - Jean Larrey
[1766-1842] , had grow frustrated with regulations requiring him to stay to the rear. After observing how the mobility of French artillery helped it to quickly disengage from an advancing enemy, Larrey proposed to an military hierarchy what he call an Ambulance volante, or “ flying ambulance”, that would follow the artillery into battle and tend to the wounded where they fell.

Larrey devised a horsedrawn wheeled carriage with a central compartment able to transport two patients comfortably on lather – covered horsehair mattresses windows on either side provided good ventilation. Inside, patients could be moved in out easily on floors set on the rollers. Recessed areas contain medicine and medical equipment, and ramps at the rear doubled as emergency operating tables.

Larry and his team tended the wounded on the basis of their injuries rather than rank or status. Those likely to the die from their wounds were set aside in favour of treating those who were deemed not to be mortally wounded these brought a French word triage it is mean that sorting into the surgeon’s lexicon.

What is meant by Ambulance Chaser ?

Ambulance chasing is prohibited in the United States. Such conduct violates Rule 7.3 of the American Bar Association Model Rules of Professional Conduct. Some bar associations strongly enforce rules against barratry. For example, the State Bar of California dispatches investigators to large-scale disaster scenes to discourage ambulance chasers, and to catch any who attempt to solicit business from disaster victims at the scene.

In the UK, Indicative Behaviour (IB) 8.5 of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct 2011 specifies that "approaching people in the street, at ports of entry, in hospital or at the scene of an accident" is to be taken as an indication of non-compliance with the SRA Principles.
